Sales Coaching Tip - Action Continues To Be For Few Sales Professionals


Whether your goal is to increase sales, improve customer service or just have greater personal sales success, unless you take action you will continue to be one of the many instead of one of the few. Yesterday in talking with a prospect, I once again realized why so many businesses fail to reach their full potential - a lack of action.

Over 6 months ago, when I first meet this prospect, he mentioned that his company had just received a high customer service rating from the national manufacturer that his company represents. I suggested that he send out press releases to local newspapers and any organizations that he belongs to. Sales Coaching Tip: If you want to increase sales, people (your prospects) must how you are different from your competitors.

Free publicity is a great way anytime to increase your sales and build your business and especially in down times. Having your name out in the media is a good thing especially when good things are happening to your business.

Fast forward to six months later for this particular business. More good things are happening with higher customer service ratings. Again, I reiterated the use of press releases and I heard the following: You told me that when we first met 6 months ago. I probably should do that.

My head was groaning inside. Will he take my advice and take action? My belief is probably not. He will return being so busy working in the business that he will forget to work on the business. And then the goal to increase sales will not be realized.

Another executive business coaching client called me and in our conversation told me that she was still working her marketing funnel even though she landed a significant contract. In the past, she would stop working her marketing funnel and become very focused on delivering her service. She now recognizes that she still needs to take action specific to her marketing activities even though she now has this great new customer. And she is taking action.

This savvy woman business owner definitely knows the benefits of taking action now, not later. She will be truly one of the few who achieves the goal to increase sales instead one of the many still seeking sales.

To change where you are now, take action. Make sure that action is in alignment with your strategic plan and written sales goals. Of course, not taking action will leave you right where you are being one of the many who want more sales, but fail to take the necessary actions to secure those sales.
